Today, 5th grade had a lesson on shadows and the Earth’s movement in comparison to the Sun. They measured a meter stick’s shadow with chalk from the exact same place throughout the day. Check out the measurements! Next they will be making individual sundials!

Our 5th grade students putting measurement to work! They measured the perimeter and area of the basketball court! Their next unit of measurement is volume. For all the curious folks, here are the measurements: Perimeter 3,224 inches and area is 608,427 square inches.

This week is spirit week for elementary to get kids excited and inspired to do their very best for the upcoming MAP test! Tuesday the kids shared their creativity with Anything but a Backpack Day!
5th and 6th graders are studying the Civil War and had guest speakers visit. Mr. Harriman discussed battle gear and Boonville battle history, while Mrs. McCarrell discussed history of the land around Pilot Grove.
