Cheaper by the Dozen

The Pilot Grove Drama Department will present the comedy, Cheaper by the Dozen, October 20 and 21 at 7:00 at Pilot Grove C4.

Cheaper by the Dozen is a funny, heart-warming, and family-friendly play. While most of the play discusses the ups and downs of family, childhood, and efficiency through “scientific management”, we learn there’s a greater purpose to this science. It’s more than just making the most of the time we have, it’s about saving time for the things we love. If you love the theater and have a special place in your heart for real-life stories of large families, save some time to see this show.

This play is told from the point of view of two of the Gilbreth children,  Ernestine (Katheryn Bealer) and Franny (Payton Schrader) who reflect on being part of a large family. Overseeing the household is Mr. Gilbreth (Matthew Fahrendorf), a strict father who lives by efficiency and education and Mrs. Gilbreth (Bella Widner) his much calmer counterpart. Other family members include Anne (Carlie Thomas), the oldest girl, which means she’s the one to turn to when starting a revolution against certain rules, like stocking styles and dating; and  Martha (Alex Mullis), who always has a positive outlook. As well as many other mischievous and sarcastic siblings, Danielle (Alyssa Schultz), Bill (Bryson Rehmer), Freida (Camryn Thomas), Lillian (Shaylee Garrigus), and Jackie (Kellen McNeal). Other children rounding out the cast are Alaya Halgren, Raelyn Zeller, Esme Litton, Hadley Fahrendorf, Kylie McCreery, and Skylar Harper.

Throughout the play, the family is joined by several supporting characters who bring their flair to the show. The loveable housekeeper Mrs. Fitzgerald, two (not-so-gentlemanly) callers, a spirited Joe Scales (Wyatt Eberhart), and lovable Larry (Brady Felten). Prim and proper Miss Brill (Gabrielle Lockert), and a wise doctor (Chandler Farhendorf).

Also involved in the production are the backstage/set crews which consist of Abigail Kraus, Alex Coates, Noah Ellebracht, Atticus Litton, Kyleigh Clark, Cameron Coyle, Aiden Wessing, Taylor Chaenault, Logan Stone, Kacie Kateman, and Alyssa Sieckmann. Directing the production is Mrs. Renee Tettaton.
